Yokota Church History

The congregation has existed since at least 1958, when they purchased land for a building with the help of the Yoyogi-Hachiman Japanese church of Christ. The building was built in February of 1959, and classrooms added in 1963.

The location immediately across from the base is very convenient to on-base residents of Yokota, and located between two local train stations, making the building convenient to students and others from the Japanese community.  It has also had a close relationship with the Tachikawa Church of Christ, built a few years afterward in 1961 by military families as well who had sought to worship according to the dictates of their conscience and according to the Word of God.
